INDIA VS NEW ZEALAND 3RD T20I: INDIA CLINCH SERIES 2-1

INDIA VS NEW ZEALAND 3RD T20I: INDIA CLINCH SERIES 2-1 by 11ic Blog

In the third and final T20I game, played on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Shubman Gill's first T20I century and a four-wicket performance from Hardik Pandya propelled Team India vs New Zealand a crushing 168-run victory

Team India chose to bat first and scored a massive 234/4 in 20 overs thanks to unbeaten scores of 126 off 63 balls from Gill and 44 off 22 balls from Rahul Tripathi. Michael Bracewell, Daryl Mitchell, Blair Tickner and Ish Sodhi all took one wicket for New Zealand. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 66 by Hardik Pandya, who had taken four wickets, along with two each from Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, and Shivam Mavi. Team India won this game to take a 2-1 series lead after three games.

In the second game, despite only needing 100 runs to win, India managed to eke out a six-wicket victory on a spin-friendly Lucknow track with just one ball remaining. Both teams failed to score a single six during the course of the game, which was an unfortunate record for the contest.

In the third ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which has historically seen a lot of runs from the bat, fans and players from both teams will be hoping for a much better surface. India didn't have the best of starts in the series at Ranchi, dropping the opening game by 21 runs despite needing to score 177 runs to win.

The openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, who have struggled in the T20I series, will be the main source of worry for the Indian team. Before this series, Gill was the "man in form," scoring 360 runs in three ODI matches against New Zealand.

India has had a strong start to the domestic season, taking both the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka and then the ODI series victory over New Zealand. On Wednesday, they will try to finish strong by defeating the Kiwis in the T20I series.

In 20 overs, India had scored 234 for 4. As New Zealand attempted to chase down 235 to win, they were bowled out for just 66 in just 12.1 overs, with Hardik taking 4 wickets and Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, and Shivam Mavi each taking 2 wickets. The largest victory margin in a T20I between two Full Member teams was 168 runs, as India defeated NZ. NZ's 66 is also their third-lowest T20I total, and it was their worst total against India.
